Final: I decided to make a mosaiced phone case. I was inspired by the memoir phone cases that are personalized for each person that buys one. They send in things that they like, and the items are pressed into a phone case. I don't want to spend over $50 on a phone case. So I made one that seemed more me. I think it turned out well. I had to use caulk to make it waterproof. I left a spot in the corner for pictures that I like. Fortunes, pictures of family, etc. I had trouble with the clean up. But I just scrubbed with soap and water.
Mosaic pt 2. I like how it came out. Besides the grout looking like ground beef, its good. I struggled with some pieces falling out. But I fixed that with just glueing them back into place. Maybe a blue smoke would have looked better. Cut it in half and draw attention. But I liked it.
1. I really like the feel and look of this album. Its sad and grungy. |

Project 1: I decided to do a series of portraits. They're all different in mediums, colors, and styles. Oil pastels worked well. Colored pencils were a dream. And acrylic paint was difficult. The pictures of me above are my reference pictures for two of the portraits. I liked how it tuned out. It was meant to be chaotic and wild. And I am glad that I got to do something with cigarettes. I plan to both mat and frame it to conserve the oil pastels.
Final: I made a mirror mosiac. I am happy with the outcome. The only thing that I hope to do with it more is to stain the wood on the sided. And seal the grout.
Project 4: I decided to do a portrait of myself in oil pastels. This is another piece that is devoted to the appreciation of myself. I like the outcome, especially my use of red, orange, and yellow. I think the background ties the entire piece together. I thought about blending it out with oil, but I like the dream like blur. If I could do one thing over, I would go full impressionistic with it. Move some eyes up and down etc.
Project 3: I decided to make wall art of features. My medium was clay. Mainly slabs. Its supposed to look like my face, but that did not pan out. Now I interpret in a way that good features don't necessarily look good together. Like, some features look good by themselves. But fitted together, they look wonky. I like it, but I don't want to keep it. Its vaguely impressionistic.
Project 1: For my first actual project I decided to draw myself as a roman statue. My medium of choice was colored pencil lead. This took about 3 weeks, and I modeled it after a photo of myself. I think it looks good. I would say it even looks like me. I took the statue of Antinous as a reference for the hair. My own critiques are: The nose isn't crooked enough, The hair in some spots are dark and unintentionally make an emphasis, And the value in some areas is patchy.
SKETCHBOOK: ART 1 WAS MAKING SKETCHBOOKS AND I DECIDED TO JOIN THEM BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE A CUSTOM SKETCHBOOK IS MORE PERSONAL. I USED A THRIFTED PAIR OF CORDUROY PANTS AND FASHIONED IT INTO MY COVER. I WENT FOR A MOODY CESSPOOL LIKE INSIDE PAGE. MY ONLY QUALM WITH IT WAS UNEVEN SIGNATURES. I SHOULD'VE SPENT MORE TIME ON THOSE BUT THE RESULT IS STILL GOOD.
